Spunky Italian coed Ivy Rossini likes to talk and push the boundaries. She gets to do both as she co-hosts Riordan College’s radio program, The Truths about Dating and Mating, alongside her lifelong best friend, Ian Hollister.
Being the only girl who cares to see beyond Ian’s bad boy reputation has its advantages, especially when he’s scaring off the jerks who just want to nail the campus sex-guru. It’s when he’s “protecting” her from the advances she welcomes that she wants to lob him over the head and tell him to butt out. But Ivy feels like she’s the one who’s taken a hit when Ian almost kisses her at a party. She knows she should feel relieved when he pulls away, so why is she disappointed instead?
What’s worse, Ivy’s now getting aroused by Ian’s slightest touch and can’t stop entertaining thoughts of a romantic future. But Ian doesn’t do relationships, and she’s not interested in anything casual. In the end, Ivy decides it’s best to keep her growing feelings a secret and hope they’ll pass. However, when Ian begins hinting at wanting to take things to the next level, she’s forced to decide if a chance at something more is worth risking everything they’ve built.
With their friendship and her heart hanging in the balance, can Ivy follow the advice she and Ian give their listeners - to communicate, be honest, and trust in themselves - or will insecurity, stubbornness, and pride ruin any chance of their relationship getting off the ground?
Warning Contains graphic sex and strong langauge.

Okay, so I have to admit, I initially judged this book based on it's cover and title... I hadn't even allowed myself to read the summary due to the fact that every time I saw the cover I thought that this novel was targeted for middle school aged girls. It wasn't until after I finally convinced myself to read the summary that I realized that this book was the exact opposite of what I had assumed. You know what they say about assuming...I actually loved this book!!! It's about two childhood friends (Ian and Ivy)attending college and doing a "sex education" radio show together. Ian is a player, who sleeps his way through the girls on campus and Ivy is a free spirited, independent women, who doesn't take anyone's crap (especially Ian's). As expected, these two start to develop feeling for each other and don't know how to handle these feelings or whether to act on them.
This book was different than most other "friends turned lovers" novels because neither of the main characters had any hidden feelings for the other before we meet them in college. Their feelings were brand new and we were discovering them right along as they were discovering them themselves.
One of the reasons I decided to give this book a chance was because it was labeled for the "NEW ADULT" genre, which I am so into right now. This genre has the perfect amount of the young adult feel mixed with mature content. It's perfect for when you want to read a romance novel without too much unnecessary detail in the sex scenes. Sometimes those just get to be too much in my opinion.
While this isn't one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE reads, it definitely is high up on my list. A solid 4 stars!!!
So PLEASE don't be like me and judge this book based on it's bad cover and title. Give it a chance and you'll see what a great story and romance this novel has to offer.
***The original cover was different than the one shown now. I prefer the new one much better.***

The Truths about Dating and Mating edition by Jaycee DeLorenzo Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I really loved this book so hard, I'd make out with it.
But I have a confession. This is my first New Adult book. I was hopeful that it would have a lot of the things I wanted to like about YA, but be more realistic and in line with my experiences.
And it was. This story, while cute and sweet and all of the things that make you sigh, resonated with me with the harder things about being that age too. Learning to fit inside your own skin, learning to like it there. Making choices about who to share your body with and what that means.
I especially loved the character arcs. The characters didn't automatically grow up at the end. They were both still trying to find out who they were and how to be better, but together. I think that's the ultimate human struggle with love.
There were so many powerful themes in this book, but there was no judgement, no hidden agenda, just two people trying to find their way and screwing up while doing it. Making mistakes that we all make along the way and the best part is they learned from them and owned their own actions and started to learn how to be the people they wanted to be.
Jaycee DeLorenzo did a great job in this book. She had me from the first paragraph and I just couldn't put the book down.
Ivy and Ian are best friend since childhood. They are now in college in their junior year and doing a talk radio show about relationships and sex.
Ivy is the type of girl that just doesn't care much of what others think. She was raised an independent strong willed women by her activist mom. Although her part in this duo radio show may make her fellow college students assume she is often sexually active she is quite the opposite. She takes pride in helping her audience dispel many dating and sex faux pas.
Ian is a more private guy. Although he is quite open and honest on the radio on a personal level he tends to keep everything private. Not having the best childhood has kept him in the mindset that he just isn't good enough. On accident he found himself in his freshman year being looked at as the bad boy that doesn't go for relationships but every girl wants to try to tame.
One night Ivy and Ian find that their relationship has taken a turn and they are both looking at each other differently. Neither wanting to acknowledge this puts them on a twist and turn path that you know will eventually collide. Not all was fun and games and you felt your heart break at times. This book isn't about all fluff. It's about loyalty, breaking down barriers and growing.
The author did a wonderful job in developing these two characters. She was able to give you some back stories so you understood and felt invested in Ivy & Ian. The banter between the two was priceless and at times had me laughing out loud. Jaycee wove the additional characters in both their lives flawlessly and complimented Ivy & Ian's lives very well.
Great job and am definitely looking up more work from this author.
